Vanakkam

Welcome

My name is Erin and I am a daughter, sister, dog mum, and wife. I work with children, youth, adults, and elders through individual, family, and group counselling. My background is in trauma therapy & play therapy. The areas that I usually work with are stress & burnout, grief & loss, personality disorders, life transitions, motor vehicle accidents, behavioural struggles, family dynamics, and self-growth.

I grew up as a third-culture kid (I am from Malaysia & spent my childhood in Ethiopia) and from a young age, I observed that no matter the ethnicity, culture, religion, or social class, humans were not created to be alone. I believe that healing takes place within relationships (with self, others, animals, nature, God, etc.).

In my therapeutic relationships, I meet people where they are at and walk with them where they want to go.

Outside of counseling, I am a photographer and children’s book illustrator. In my free time, I enjoy being in nature with my dog, exploring food & cooking, being physically active, and spending time with my husband, friends & family.

Approach to Therapy

I come from a culturally sensitive, attachment-based, and trauma-informed perspective. My approach to therapy is holistic & collaborative in nature - I adapt to a framework that would work best for the client. I draw from various therapeutic models such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Somatic Therapy, Art Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, etc.
